Many conservative commentators and most Biblical prophetic writers warned for months that the Arab Spring was destined to freeze over, becoming an Islamic Winter. It has begun. In each case in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Yemen and Syria, the result is worse conditions and more Sharia law imposed. Helpless citizens watch their democratic hopes go up in smoke.
The Tunisian election last weekend brought radicals to power. Libya’s provisional government announced it would base the new regime on Sharia. Egypt’s elections next month are predicted to choose Muslim Brotherhood related groups. And so it goes. 100,000 Egyptian Christians have fled the country in just the last few months. They are escaping murder, rape, beatings and church burnings. The military used to protect them and arrest Muslim attackers, but now stand back and give tacit approval, which encourages expanded mayhem. Some military troops even take part.
“Behold, the days are coming,” says Yehovah, “When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall drip with sweet wine, And all the hills shall flow with it.” Amos 9:13
This passage in Amos refers to Israel’s restoration, after their scattering to all nations that lasted nearly 2,000 years. However, I see in the phrase: “the plowman overtakes the reaper” a commentary on the Arab Spring. Before the expected democratic “fruit” could be seen, it was plowed under by the radical Muslim mobs. I spoke of this a few weeks ago, but it bears repeating.
Psalm 83 war preparations are accelerating. For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; and those who hate You have lifted up their head. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, and consulted together against Your sheltered ones. Verses 2 and 3 describe the “tumult” of the violent protests and identifies the real target of their hatred is God Himself. Since they can’t reach God, they attack His people as a way to attack Yehovah God.
As the enemies of God accelerate their plans, let us accelerate our prophetic intercession. We will pray for Israel and stand for Israel because God is fulfilling His ancient covenant promises now, in our day! Pray for the peace of Jerusalem to come in the form of the Prince of Peace, Yeshua ben Yehovah, Jesus, Son of God.
